Editorial Policy

How content on BillUnits.in is created, reviewed, corrected, and kept independent.

This page covers our editorial standards and governance. For how our calculators compute bills, see Methodology; for where our tariff figures come from, see Data Sources.

Editorial principles

  • Accuracy — we aim for information that is correct and current, and we correct it when it isn’t.
  • Transparency — we explain how our calculators work and cite where our figures come from.
  • Simplicity — we present complex tariff concepts in plain language.
  • Independence — editorial decisions are made on merit, not commercial influence.
  • Continuous improvement — pages are reviewed and updated over time.

How we create content

Articles and guides (as distinct from the calculators, which follow the process on our Methodology page) move through these stages:

  • Topic research — we choose topics useful to electricity consumers in India.
  • Information collection — gathered from the official sources listed on our Data Sources page.
  • Preparation — drafted for clarity and practical usefulness, with examples and tables where they help.
  • Verification — tariff values, formulas, and references are checked against official documents before publishing.
  • Publication and periodic review — content is published, then revisited when rates change, schemes are modified, or errors surface.

Authorship and review

Content on BillUnits.in is researched, written, reviewed, and maintained by Amal Mog, Founder and Electricity Tariff Researcher. A named, accountable author is responsible for what appears on the site, and the author page sets out the relevant background and expertise.

Use of AI and automation

We may use modern tools, including AI assistance, to help draft, structure, or check content. They do not replace human judgement:

  • All published content is reviewed by a human before it goes live.
  • Accuracy and usefulness take priority over automation.
  • Final editorial responsibility rests with the named author.

Corrections policy

Errors can occur despite review. When we identify or are told about an inaccuracy, we make reasonable efforts to correct it promptly. Please tell us if you find an incorrect tariff rate, a calculation error, a broken link, outdated information, or a typo — use our Contact page. Feedback directly improves the site’s accuracy.

Advertising and independence

BillUnits.in may display advertising (including Google AdSense) and may participate in affiliate programmes. To keep that separate from editorial integrity:

  • Advertising and affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial decisions or rankings.
  • We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage.
  • Recommendations are made independently, on the basis of usefulness to the reader.

Limitations

BillUnits.in provides informational content and estimated calculations only; it is not an official source of billing information. Tariffs and regulations change, so verify current details with your DISCOM or regulator before acting. Full terms are on our Disclaimer page.
